Poland has closed the border with Belarus, interrupting the China-Europe rail services, causing disruptions in trade and logistics between China and Europe. Currently, major rail companies are taking alternative measures such as using the iron-sea intermodal transport route from St. Petersburg, Russia to Hamburg, Germany, as well as the southern route of the China-Europe rail service to cope with this sudden development. The Polish government recently announced the closure of all roads and railway border crossings to Belarus starting from September 12 due to joint military exercises between Russia and Belarus. The main transportation route of the China-Europe rail service is through Belarus and Poland, and the border crossings have not yet been reopened. "Based on the communication we have had with our partner companies, some of our shipments scheduled for transport after September 12 are in transit, with some already in Brest, waiting for customs clearance and reloading, while others are still en route. There are still some concerns about this," said Tang Tingting, assistant general manager of Sichuan New Silk Road Multimodal Transport Co., Ltd., to China Economic Net.
