The Cyberspace Administration of China deploys a special action called "Clear and Cure: Combating malicious instigation of negative emotions."
In order to rectify the problem of maliciously inciting opposition and promoting negative emotions such as violence and hostility, and to create a more civilized and rational online environment, the Central Cyberspace Affairs Office recently issued a notice to deploy a two-month special action nationwide called "Clear and Rectify the Problem of Maliciously Inciting Negative Emotions." The relevant person in charge of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Office stated that this special action will focus on social media, short video platforms, live streaming platforms, etc., comprehensively inspecting key areas such as topics, rankings, recommendations, bullet comments, and comments, and will work to rectify the following issues: inciting extreme opposition emotions among groups, promoting panic and anxiety emotions, inciting online violence and hostility, and excessively exaggerating negative and pessimistic emotions. The relevant person in charge of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Office emphasized that local cyberspace departments should strictly comply with the work requirements, strengthen inspections and disposal, strictly punish websites, platforms, accounts, and MCN agencies with prominent issues, urge platforms to implement rectification measures, and conduct thorough self-inspections and self-corrections to effectively plug loopholes and create a good online ecosystem.
