Venezuela launches "Military Camps Towards the People" plan.
Venezuela launched the "Military Camps to the People" plan on the 20th, sending armed forces personnel to more than 5300 communities nationwide to conduct training in weapons operation and other activities. Venezuelan President Maduro said at an event in Aragua state that the plan is one of the actions taken by Venezuela to respond to the US military deployment in the Caribbean Sea and to safeguard peace and sovereignty. In recent times, tensions between Venezuela and the US have been high, as the US deployed several warships in the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela, citing the need to combat drug trafficking in Latin America. Maduro announced the launch of the "Military Camps to the People" plan on the 18th to respond to the US military presence and to defend territorial integrity.
