The Secretary-General of the United Nations expresses deep concern over the situation in western Sudan.

On September 20th, local time, United Nations Secretary-General Guterres expressed serious concern over the rapidly deteriorating situation in the capital of North Darfur State in western Sudan, El Fasher, through his spokesperson. He warned that the trapped civilians in the area are facing increasing risks. The Secretary-General reiterated that all parties to the conflict must immediately cease fire, respect and protect civilians, ensure safe, unhindered and sustained access for humanitarian assistance, and provide safe corridors for any civilians willing to evacuate.
