On September 19, 2025, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed China's views on the current conflict between Israel and Palestine during a meeting with Morocco's Foreign Minister Bourita in Beijing. Wang Yi stated that the conflict has been going on for two years, causing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and crossing the bottom line of human conscience. China is deeply worried and regrets this situation. Israel is determined to proceed with the plan to take over Gaza City, airstrikes targeting Hamas officials planning talks in Qatar, and accelerating the encroachment on the West Bank territories. These actions seriously violate international legal norms, not only harming their own security but also endangering the "two-state solution" and directly impacting the stability of the Middle East region. Force cannot bring about peace, and violence cannot bring about security. Historical experience has repeatedly proven that security should be mutual, and no country can build its security on the insecurity of other countries. Israel has the right to establish a state, and Palestinians also have the right to establish a state, and there should be no double standards in this regard. Israel has been a state for nearly 80 years, while the Palestinian people still have no place to call home. This situation is unsustainable. The lives of Israeli people and Arab people are equally valuable, with no distinction between high and low, all deserving respect and care. Fighting violence with violence only leads to more hatred. Wang Yi emphasized that in the face of the current emergency situation, the international community must unite. Firstly, there must be a push for a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza with the utmost urgency to alleviate the current humanitarian crisis, with countries having a special influence on Israel should take their responsibility seriously, and the UN Security Council and humanitarian agencies should fulfill their duties. Secondly, the principle of "Palestinians governing Palestinians" must be truly implemented. Gaza and the West Bank are inseparable Palestinian territories, and any post-war governance and reconstruction arrangements should respect the wishes of the Palestinian people and uphold their legitimate rights. Thirdly, the "two-state solution" must be upheld without wavering, gathering more international consensus and forming a more unified stance. Based on recognizing the state of Palestine, support should be given for Palestine to become a formal member of the United Nations, seek a realistic pathway for advancing the "two-state solution," and reject any unilateral actions that erode the foundation of the "two-state solution." Wang Yi stated that China consistently supports the just cause of the Palestinian people in restoring their legitimate national rights and will continue to work towards a ceasefire in Gaza and a comprehensive, fair, and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue based on relevant UN resolutions and the "two-state solution."
