Tesla has been granted permission to begin testing automated driving cars equipped with safety personnel in the state of Arizona. This is a key step for the company to expand its automated taxi business beyond Austin to other cities and states. The electric car manufacturer first contacted the Arizona Department of Transportation in late June to start the certification process for automated driving car sharing services, which was confirmed by the department to the media. Tesla informed the department that their goal is to launch services in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
