The Ministry of Commerce responds to the issue of Tiktok: will never seek to achieve any agreement at the expense of sacrificing principles, corporate interests, and international fairness and justice.
According to the Securities Times APP, on September 18, the Ministry of Commerce held a regular press conference. Ministry of Commerce spokesperson, Hua Yadong, stated that the Chinese position on the TikTok issue has been consistent. China opposes the politicization, instrumentalization, and weaponization of technology and trade issues, and will never seek any agreement at the expense of principles, corporate interests, and international fairness and justice. At the same time, the Chinese government respects the wishes of enterprises and supports them in conducting equal commercial negotiations based on market principles. The Chinese government will approve the technology exports and intellectual property rights licensing related to TikTok in accordance with the law, and hopes that the US side will provide an open, fair, just, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies, including TikTok, to operate continuously in the US, in line with the consensus reached by both parties, in order to promote the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of the Sino-US economic and trade relations.
