The symposium on regulating the production capacity of live pigs focuses on "controlling sow numbers", with head enterprises in attendance announcing their stance of not increasing sow production capacity.
On September 16th, a forum on controlling the production capacity of pigs was held in Beijing, with participants including major pig breeding companies such as Muyuan and Wens. The meeting discussed issues such as controlling the capacity of sow production, restricting "secondary fattening", and reducing the weight of slaughtered pigs, with the aim of controlling the supply of pigs next year. Previously, the government proposed to reduce the stock of sows to 39.5 million. Many leading pig enterprises have stated that they will respond to the control measures by not increasing the production capacity of sows, orderly eliminating inefficient sows, and reasonably controlling the number of sows and the weight of slaughtered pigs.
