Foreign media: Iran executes a man convicted of engaging in espionage activities for Israel.
Reuters and Agence France-Presse quoted Iranian media reports as saying that the Iranian judiciary has announced that a man has been executed on the 17th after being convicted of spying for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. AFP quoted Iranian media as saying, "Babak Shahbazi...was executed this morning after the proper legal process and confirmation by the Supreme Court." AFP stated that it is still unclear when Shahbazi was arrested. Iranian media reported that he had been involved in designing and installing industrial cooling systems for companies associated with military, security, and telecommunications organizations and facilities. He was able to access these places and "provide intelligence to Mossad in exchange for money and foreign residency rights."
