On the 16th local time, the Argentine government issued a statement announcing plans to sell up to 44% of the shares in the state-owned nuclear power company, Argentina Nuclear Power Company. The Argentine government will continue to hold 51% of the shares to guarantee controlling interest. In addition, an employee stock ownership plan, which can account for up to 5% of the shares, will be organized to allow employees to participate in the allocation of shares. Against the backdrop of financial constraints, this measure aims to promote infrastructure modernization and attract investment. Partial privatization is expected to help advance key projects, including the construction of Argentina's first modular reactor and the development of uranium mines. The Argentina Nuclear Power Company currently operates the Atucha I, Atucha II, and Embalse nuclear power plants. According to the International Atomic Energy Agency data, in 2024, the electricity generated by Argentine nuclear power plants accounts for approximately 7.4% of the country's total electricity. Analysts estimate that the company's total market value is approximately $1 billion.
