On September 16th, the Anglo American Resources Group issued a statement announcing that they have reached a final agreement with the Chilean National Copper Corporation (Codelco) to implement a joint mining plan for the Los Bronces and Andina copper mines in Chile. The agreement was based on a memorandum of understanding signed and announced in February 2025, and has received unanimous approval from both boards of directors. The joint mining plan, which is expected to be achieved by 2030 after obtaining relevant permits, will last for 21 years and aims to release an additional 2.7 million tons of copper production. The transaction is expected to generate at least $5 billion in pre-tax net present value.
