The Anglo-American Resource Group and the Chilean National Copper Corporation have finalized a joint mining plan.
On September 16th, Anglo American Resources Group issued a statement stating that it has reached a final agreement with the Chilean National Copper Company on the Los Bronces and El Disputada copper mining operations in Chile, and will implement a joint mining plan. The agreement was based on a memorandum of understanding signed and published in February 2025, and has been approved unanimously by both boards of directors. The joint mining plan will continue for 21 years after the relevant permits are obtained, aiming to release an additional 2.7 million tons of copper production. The transaction is expected to generate at least $5 billion in pre-tax net present value appreciation.
