Malawi holds presidential, parliamentary, and local government elections.

On September 16th local time, the southern African country of Malawi held a "three-in-one" election for president, parliament, and local government. Approximately 7.2 million registered voters will participate in voting at 6,339 polling stations nationwide to elect the president, members of parliament, and local councilors. It is reported that a total of 17 candidates are vying for the presidential election. Polls show that the incumbent president Lazarus Chakwera and former president Peter Mutharika are leading in support, with both having a chance to win the presidential election. The election results are expected to be announced within 8 days.
