This morning, the State Council Information Office held a press conference, where the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs introduced the relevant situation of high-quality development of agriculture and rural areas during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. It was reported at the press conference that since the beginning of the "14th Five-Year Plan", China has achieved new results in building livable and business-friendly rural areas and beautiful villages. Various regions have learned from and applied the experience of the "Million Works" project, promoting rural industry development, rural construction, and rural governance based on local conditions to create livable, business-friendly, and beautiful villages with unique characteristics. Rural industries have flourished, with the operating income of agricultural product processing enterprises above a certain scale nationwide reaching nearly 18 trillion yuan. The living environment in rural areas has significantly improved, with a toilet coverage rate of about 76%, and substantial improvements in basic infrastructure such as water, electricity, roads, and gas in rural areas. The level of public services such as education, healthcare, and elderly care in rural areas continues to rise; the construction of a civilized rural atmosphere has been promoted, addressing prominent issues such as high bridal gifts and extravagant funerals but minimal care for the elderly. Various cultural and sports activities with "village brand" such as "village basketball", "village supermarket", and "village night" have been splendidly displayed.
