The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich), and the Swiss National Supercomputing Center (CSCS) have jointly released a large-scale open-source language model called Apertus. In Latin, Apertus means "open", and it truly embodies the spirit of openness. While American large models such as OpenAI's GPT series, Meta's Llama, and Anthropic's Claude still play the "data black box" magic, Apertus openly shares everything from model weights, architecture, training code, data recipes, and even complete training process documentation without hiding anything (AIGC Open Community).
