The International Atomic Energy Agency has raised its forecast for nuclear power expansion for the fifth consecutive year.

The International Atomic Energy Agency held its 69th General Conference on September 15th, local time, during which it released its annual report. The report shows that with the continuing trend of global nuclear power development, the International Atomic Energy Agency has increased its forecast for nuclear power expansion for the fifth consecutive year. In the high-value forecast, the International Atomic Energy Agency predicts that by 2050, global nuclear power operational capacity will more than double, reaching 2.6 times the level of 2024. By the end of 2024, there were a total of 417 nuclear power units in operation worldwide, with a total installed capacity of 377 gigawatts. In the high-value forecast, it is expected that nuclear electricity generation will increase to 992 gigawatts by 2050. In the low-value forecast, nuclear electricity generation will increase by 50% compared to 2024, reaching 561 gigawatts.
