On September 15, Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association, stated that in August 2025, 2.75 million cars were produced, an increase of 11% compared to the previous year; 1.33 million new energy vehicles were produced, an increase of 23%, with a penetration rate of 48%; and 1.42 million fuel vehicles were produced, an increase of 1%. From January to August 2025, a total of 20.83 million cars were produced, an increase of 11% compared to the previous year; 9.38 million new energy vehicles were produced, an increase of 31%, with a penetration rate of 45%; and 11.45 million fuel vehicles were produced, a decrease of 2% compared to the previous year.
