Zotye Motors intellectual property contract dispute second instance judgment, need to pay 29.5 million plus interest.

Recently, Zotye Motors received a civil judgment from the Zhejiang Higher People's Court [Zhe Min Zhong 588]. Previously, Shanghai CHTC sued Zotye Motors for a dispute over intellectual property contracts, demanding payment of license fees and overdue interest, while Zotye Motors countersued for contract termination. On April 30, 2025, the Jinhua Intermediate Court ruled in the first instance to terminate the contract and dismiss Shanghai CHTC's claims. Shanghai CHTC appealed, and after a trial by the Zhejiang High Court, it was deemed that some of their requests were valid. The second-instance judgment upheld the partial termination of the contract, revoked the dismissal of Shanghai CHTC's claims, and ordered Zotye Motors to pay 295 million RMB plus overdue interest within ten days, while rejecting Shanghai CHTC's other claims. This judgment is final and may have a significant impact on Zotye Motors' performance.
