According to China Securities Journal, the solid-state battery sector has seen a significant increase recently, with market enthusiasm soaring, as if solid-state batteries are about to enter every household overnight. However, there are still many technical, manufacturing, and process challenges to be solved before solid-state batteries can truly be industrialized and commercially produced, leading to a significant gap in commercial production. On September 14, a battery company executive pointed out the current development status of solid-state batteries at the 2025 China Automotive Industry Development International Forum. It has been found through research that domestic solid-state batteries are developing along multiple technological paths, with semi-solid-state batteries already being used in vehicles, and many companies accelerating the construction of pilot production lines for solid-state batteries, with a clear timeline for mass production. Control of material costs remains a key challenge in achieving mass production of solid-state batteries. In the short term, the foundation of liquid lithium batteries remains stable. Some interviewed experts believe that solid-state batteries are likely to be the first to be truly commercialized in emerging fields such as low-altitude aircraft.
