Goldman Sachs vice president Robert Kaplan said that investors are beginning to question whether they have invested too much money in the United States, with more and more financial institutions turning their focus to Europe and Asia in search of growth opportunities. Kaplan said on Friday that some investors are considering whether to start hedging the US dollar to protect against exchange rate fluctuations. "The situation since January is that people still like the United States, but they are starting to say, 'I think we are overexposed to the United States,'" Kaplan said. "We are having hedging discussions with people from around the world, some of whom have never hedged the US dollar in the past 15 years." Kaplan pointed out that although investors still see the United States as a safe haven for funds, they are "a little more confused about the institutional framework of the United States".
