According to reports, BlackRock executive Rick Rieder is quickly emerging as a top candidate to succeed Jerome Powell as the next chairman of the Federal Reserve. Powell's term is set to expire in May next year. Sources say that US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen held a two-hour meeting with Rieder in New York on Friday, discussing topics such as monetary policy, the organizational structure of the Federal Reserve, and regulatory policies. Yellen has already interviewed four out of the eleven candidates publicly listed for the position of Federal Reserve chair, emphasizing that the selection process is still ongoing.
