Ministry of Finance: Deepening and expanding international financial and economic cooperation during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period

On September 12, at the State Council Information Office's series of thematic press conferences on "high-quality completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan", relevant officials from the Ministry of Finance introduced that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, international economic and financial cooperation will be deepened and expanded. Minister of Finance Liao Huoan stated that international economic and financial cooperation is an important part of a major country's diplomacy. The Ministry of Finance is responsible for 26 multilateral and bilateral economic and financial dialogue mechanisms, and is also the gateway department for 18 international organizations. At the same time, the Ministry of Finance is expanding high-level opening up, further reducing the overall tariff level to 7.3%. It was reported that in recent years, the Ministry of Finance has been promoting reforms in global economic governance, fully leveraging the role of multilateral financial dialogue platforms to build more consensus. Substantial progress has been made in establishing the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Development Bank. In 2025, as the joint chair of the ASEAN Plus Three Finance and Monetary Cooperation Mechanism, significant progress was made in guiding discussions on major financial issues for the first time.
