The medium and long-term US Treasury yields dropped at least 4 basis points on the day of the release of US CPI inflation data.

On Thursday in New York, the yield on the 10-year US Treasury bond fell by 4.01 basis points to 4.0054%. At 20:30 Beijing time, the US CPI inflation data was released, causing the yield to drop from close to 4.06% to near 3.99%. Prior to the data release, the yield was slightly increasing, but it fluctuated at a lower level after the data was published. The yields on the 3-year, 5-year, 7-year, 20-year, and 30-year US Treasury bonds also fell by 1.11, 2.08, 3.33, 4.62, and 5.31 basis points respectively. The yield on the 2-year US Treasury bond fell by 1.67 basis points to 3.5270%, but surged to 3.5705% at the release of the CPI data before dropping to 3.4712% at 20:35, setting a daily low. The yield spread between the 2-year and 10-year US Treasury bonds decreased by 2.700 basis points to +47.626 basis points. The yield on the 10-year inflation-protected US Treasury bond fell by 4.62 basis points, while the yield on the 30-year TIPS fell by 6.44 basis points.
