Regarding the recent arrest of employees at the battery joint venture factory in Georgia, USA, LG New Energy exclusively responded to Interface News that the construction of the factory is currently on hold and will resume operations as soon as the situation stabilizes. According to information disclosed on LG New Energy's official website, the joint venture factory project was announced in 2023, with LG New Energy and Hyundai each holding 50% of the shares. The factory plans to start production by the end of 2025. On September 4th local time, U.S. federal law enforcement agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations conducted a large-scale raid on the Hyundai and LG New Energy battery joint venture factory in Georgia. U.S. law enforcement officers arrested a total of 475 foreign nationals suspected of illegal residence and work, including approximately 300 Korean citizens.
