Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Ministry of Water Resources: Truly implement key measures to further improve the disaster prevention and reduction capabilities of farmland.
On September 11th, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Water Resources held a video conference to promote the rectification of farmland ditches and the governance of plain flooding areas. The meeting emphasized the need to thoroughly analyze the situation and tasks facing farmland disaster prevention and reduction, implement key measures for the rectification of farmland ditches and the governance of plain flooding areas in a practical manner, and provide important support for continuously improving the capacity of farmland disaster prevention and reduction and consolidating the foundation of national food security. The meeting required continuous investigation and registration of the comprehensive ditch system and related water facilities, accurately grasp the distribution pattern, condition, and functional shortcomings of the ditches, and coordinate the construction of a "water network map." It is necessary to strengthen the connectivity of ditches and supporting facilities, clear local obstructions, and improve drainage systems. Focus should be on flooded areas, effectively draining stagnant water from flooded farmland, and fully repairing disaster-stricken farmland. It is important to establish a sound system of work responsibilities, actively engage the masses, and highlight the role of engineering construction in promoting systematic rectification.
