On September 11, the Intermediate People's Court of Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province publicly sentenced Fu Guoxiang, former first-level inspector of the Liupanshui Municipal Committee in Guizhou Province, for bribery. The defendant Fu Guoxiang was sentenced to eleven years in prison for bribery and fined 1.2 million RMB. The illegal gains from bribery received by Fu Guoxiang and his offspring will be confiscated according to law and turned over to the state treasury. After trial, it was found that from 1999 to 2020, the defendant Fu Guoxiang, while serving as the Party Secretary of Wangjiazhai Town in Zhongshan District, and in various other positions, used his power to provide assistance to certain units and individuals in project contracting, land acquisition and demolition, loan guarantees, etc., and illegally accepted a total of more than 25.73 million RMB, some of which he did not actually obtain. The Intermediate People's Court of Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture believed that Fu Guoxiang's actions constituted the crime of bribery with an extraordinarily large amount of money, and he should be punished according to law. Considering that there were attempts in Fu Guoxiang's bribery crimes, and that he confessed his crimes truthfully after being brought to justice, voluntarily confessed additional facts of bribery crimes not yet known to the investigating authority, admitted guilt and showed repentance, actively returned the embezzled money, he has mitigating circumstances according to law. Therefore, the court decided to impose a lighter punishment on him. After the verdict was announced, Fu Guoxiang stated in court that he would accept the judgment and not appeal.
