Japan's JERA signs letter of intent to purchase Alaskan liquefied natural gas.
Japanese energy giant JERA announced on the 11th that it has signed a letter of intent with the American energy infrastructure company Glenn-Finn Group regarding the supply of gas to JERA from the U.S. Alaska liquefied natural gas project that the latter is leading. However, the Japanese side still needs to evaluate the risks of this high-cost project. According to the letter of intent, the Alaska liquefied natural gas project will supply JERA with 1 million tons of liquefied natural gas per year for a period of 20 years. Glenn-Finn Group plans to make a final investment decision on the pipeline project later this year and to confirm the arrangement for liquefied natural gas exports next year.
