Turkey seals part of media institutions in fraud investigation.
Turkish authorities have ordered the seizure of tens of companies, including major television channels, as part of an investigation into the Cenk Group. The group is a diversified corporation with assets in various sectors such as energy, media, and education. Turkey's official news agency Anadolu reported on Thursday that prosecutors have accused this Istanbul-based company of organized crime, including fraud and money laundering. So far, the Cenk Group has not responded to these allegations. A court in Istanbul has ordered the seizure of 121 companies under the Cenk Group, and their management rights have been transferred to Turkey's government-controlled Savings Deposit Insurance Fund. The affected companies include Show TV and Haberturk TV, both of which are major national television channels.
