Citigroup CEO: Does not believe that the United States will fall into recession, optimistic about the growth of the Middle East in the next ten years.
Citigroup Group CEO Fraser said that as U.S. companies regain confidence from clearer policy signals, merger and acquisition activities are rebounding, and the U.S. does not seem likely to fall into a recession. However, she also cautioned that the bank is closely monitoring the labor market and said "not everything is all rosy", but she still expects the U.S. to avoid a downturn. Fraser is optimistic about the Middle East region, predicting strong growth over the next decade driven by investment inflows and the development of emerging industries. Gulf countries have invested billions of dollars domestically and internationally, aiming to reduce dependence on oil, attracting global financial institutions including Citigroup. In recent years, Citigroup has been one of many international banks expanding their business in the Gulf region. J. P. Morgan Financial Group, Lazards, and others are also hiring personnel or opening new offices in the region. Earlier this year, JPMorgan Chase announced plans to add over 100 employees for its Middle East operations in the coming years.
