The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the China Meteorological Administration jointly issued a warning today about the risk of waterlogging in farmland. It is expected that from September 10th to 12th, there will be heavy rain in the southeast of the northwest region, the southern part of North China, the southern part of the Huaihe River and other areas, with locally heavy rainfall and strong convective weather. There is a high risk of waterlogging in farmland in the central and southern parts of Shaanxi, the southern parts of Shanxi, most parts of Henan, and the central and southern parts of Shandong. Some areas in the northern part of Henan and the southern part of the Shandong Peninsula also have a high risk, which may lead to waterlogging in low-lying farmland, causing premature aging of crops' roots and lodging in some areas, affecting the formation and harvest of later yields. It is recommended that the above-mentioned areas make arrangements for drainage facilities, clear ditches and channels in advance, promptly remove accumulated water, apply appropriate fertilizers based on crop growth after the rain, strengthen monitoring and control of crop pests and diseases, and reduce the harm of waterlogging.
