State Grid Corporation of China, Zhang Zhigang: Over the past 10 years, the cross-provincial and cross-regional transmission capacity has increased by 2.3 times.

At the 2025 Global Energy Internet Conference held today, Zhang Zhigang, Chairman of State Grid Corporation, stated in his keynote speech that the State Grid Corporation of China is guided by the new energy security strategy of "four revolutions and one cooperation," diligently implementing the deployment of the Chinese government, accelerating the construction of a new type of power system, promoting the upgrade of the power grid to an energy internet, and promoting the clean and low-carbon transformation of energy. Zhang Zhigang mentioned that the State Grid Corporation is accelerating the interconnection of power grids, promoting the energy supply revolution, increasing input of resources, advancing the construction of power grids at all levels, and has completed 41 ultra-high voltage AC/DC projects, accelerating the construction of pumped storage energy, enhancing the system's regulation capacity, and fully serving the high-quality development of new energy. Over the past 10 years, the cross-provincial and cross-regional transmission capacity has increased by 2.3 times, exceeding 350 gigawatts. The installed capacity of pumped storage in operation and under construction has increased by 1.6 times, exceeding 94 gigawatts. The installed capacity of wind and solar new energy in operating areas has increased by 9 times, reaching 1355 gigawatts, accounting for nearly 50%. New energy has become the largest source of electricity and the main body of new installed capacity and new electricity generation.
