On the afternoon of September 9th, the State Council Information Office held a policy briefing, where officials from the General Administration of Sport, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Commerce introduced policy measures related to the "Opinions on Further Promoting High-Quality Development of the Sports Industry to Unlock the Potential of Sports Consumption." Li Jing, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Sport, introduced the latest data showing that the added value of the national sports industry reached 1.4915 trillion yuan in 2023, accounting for 1.15% of the GDP. From 2021 to 2023, the average annual growth rate of the sports industry added value is 11.6%. The enthusiasm of the people to participate in sports consumption is increasing, with activities such as "sports events entering scenic areas, streets, and business districts," "traveling with sports events," and "enjoying exciting sports events while tasting Chinese cuisine" being widely promoted. Events such as "ZheBA" have sparked a consumption boom, with an average of 25,000 spectators at each of the 60 matches in the first ten rounds of the "SuSuper" league, and online live viewers exceeding 1.3 billion.
