Meridians: The number of new approvals in August in Hong Kong decreased by over 10% compared to the previous month, hitting a six-month low.

According to the latest data from the Mortgage Referral Research Department and the Hong Kong Mortgage Securities, in August, the number of new mortgage insurance plan loans and the total amount were 1,350 and 6.842 billion Hong Kong dollars respectively. This represents a decrease of 11.9% and 9.1% in the number of loans and the amount of loans compared to July. The number of loans hit a 6-month low, while the amount hit a 5-month low.
