This year's 16th typhoon, named "Tapah," has formed and is expected to make landfall along the coast of Guangdong on the 8th.
According to the meteorological department in Hainan Province, the tropical depression in the South China Sea has strengthened at 20:00 today to become this year's 16th typhoon, named "Taba". The center is located at 18.3 degrees north latitude and 115.7 degrees east longitude, approximately 610 kilometers southeast of Dianbai District, Maoming City, Guangdong Province, in the eastern South China Sea. The maximum wind force near the center is level 8, with a radius of 180-260 kilometers for the level 7 wind circle. It is expected that "Taba" will move in a west-northwest direction at a speed of 10-15 kilometers per hour, gradually increasing in intensity. It will then head towards the central and western coasts of Guangdong, and is expected to make landfall along the coastal areas from Zhuhai to Zhanjiang in Guangdong on the morning to noon of the 8th. After landfall, the intensity will gradually weaken. Due to its influence, from the night of the 6th to the 8th, the wind force in the northern part of the South China Sea, the eastern seas of Hainan Island, and the seas near the Xisha and Nansha Islands will increase to levels 7-9, with gusts of 10-12; the western and southern seas of Hainan Island, the Qiongzhou Strait, and the northern part of the Gulf of Tonkin will gradually increase to levels 6-8, with gusts of 9-10; there will be heavy to torrential rain in the northeast of Hainan Island, with locally heavy rain.
