On the afternoon of September 4th, President Xi Jinping of China met with President Sassou of the Republic of Congo at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, who was in China to attend the 80th anniversary commemoration of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War Victory. The two leaders announced that they would elevate bilateral relations to a high level of a community with a shared future between China and Congo. Xi Jinping pointed out that the China-Congo relationship is a model of friendship between China and Africa. In the current complex and changing international situation, China and Africa, as important members of the global South, should shoulder the historical responsibility of defending international fairness and justice, maintaining world peace, and promoting common development, and work together to build a community with a shared future for humanity. President Sassou said: "Respected President Xi Jinping, my dear friend, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War Victory is a historic event, allowing us to honor our ancestors and demonstrate the values of resilience and peace. On one hand, it is about consolidating peace and safeguarding the future; on the other hand, it is about advancing the process of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, drawing inspiration from it, and making a broader contribution to the development cause."
