Citibank released a research report forecasting that by 2030, 10% of global market trading volume will be conducted through digital assets and tokenized securities. Respondents believed that by then, digital assets or asset tokenization would see the fastest growth in areas such as fixed income tokenization, cryptocurrency, and fund tokenization. The fifth annual report by Citibank conducted surveys of 537 executives globally from financial market infrastructure, custody businesses, banks, securities firms, asset management companies, and institutional investors between June and July of this year. According to the breakdown by asset category, respondents expected that by 2030, 14% of private equity assets would be traded using tokenization and digital assets, with another 11% of over-the-counter collateral trades following this method. Fund trading and stock trading were expected to have 10% each using this method, while fixed income trading and derivative products were expected to have 9% each.
