US President Donald Trump publicly discussed his high-profile split with Elon Musk this year, saying that the former ally had no choice but to return to the Republican Party. "I don't think he had a choice," Trump said in an interview recorded on Tuesday for the Scott Jennings show, referring to Musk's political choices being limited to either the Republican Party or the "radical left lunatics." Despite this, Trump generally praised his former donor and downplayed the differences between them. He also insisted that the billionaire had issues that needed to be resolved. "He's a good guy. It's okay that he crossed the line because you know that's just one thing," Trump said about the Tesla CEO. Trump also stated that Musk is "80% a super genius, and the other 20% has some issues. Once he resolves those 20% of issues, he will be great, but he is facing some challenges." Musk has not responded to requests for comment.
