Japanese car companies Honda, Mazda, and Toyota are accelerating efforts to ensure that professional talent is engaged in the development of essential software technologies for electrification and autonomous driving. With talent competition becoming increasingly fierce across industries, these car companies are striving to enhance their hiring systems and expand their presence. Honda plans to invest approximately 2 trillion yen (approximately 96.4 billion yuan) in software-related research and development by the end of the fiscal year 2030. The company will introduce a system in the fiscal year 2024 that pays high-level talent based on market conditions and provides a working environment that offers different treatment for employees compared to regular staff. Mazda, based in Hiroshima Prefecture, opened the "Mazda Tokyo Research Center" in the Azabu Dai Hills area of Tokyo in June, serving as a base for collaboration with universities, companies, and research institutions in the capital region. The center currently has a staff of approximately 50 people, and this number is expected to increase in the future.
