Japanese companies are issuing global bonds one after another, with the total issuance size poised to set a new record exceeding one trillion US dollars.
With more Japanese companies issuing bonds in the primary market on Tuesday, the total amount of US dollar and Euro bonds issued by Japanese issuers this year is expected to exceed $100 billion, setting a new record. Including Nomura Holdings and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, at least seven Japanese companies have launched US dollar bond offerings, making the global bond market particularly busy this week. Data shows that Japanese issuers have issued a total of $93 billion in US dollar and Euro bonds so far this year, an increase of 67% compared to the same period last year. The highest record for annual bond issuance by Japanese borrowers is around $98 billion.
