The West Pacific Bank will recruit hundreds of bankers to promote commercial lending business.
Australia's Westpac Bank plans to recruit 350 bankers and rely more on artificial intelligence to expand its commercial lending business. On Tuesday, the Sydney-based bank announced in its business and wealth division update that it had recruited 135 bankers by the first half of 2025, and plans to recruit another 350 in the 2027 financial year. CEO Anthony Miller, who has been in his position for less than a year, is strengthening the commercial banking business by reducing transaction approval times and using real-time AI assistants to help customers. Earlier this year, he poached Paul Fowler from competitor Commonwealth Bank of Australia to head the department.
