The National Crop Germplasm Resources Information Platform is launched for trial operation.
On August 29, the national crop germplasm resources information platform went online for trial operation. The platform is guided by the Department of Seed Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and constructed by the Crop Germplasm Resources Protection and Utilization Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Currently, the platform has launched a module for sharing and utilizing crop germplasm resources, collecting basic information such as the sources and characteristics of over 300,000 samples of 26 crops including rice, corn, soybeans, wheat, and vegetables. It also indicates the status of resource sharing, ways to apply for access, and the units providing the resource repository, making it easier for breeding units, seed companies, and researchers to accurately search and obtain the necessary germplasm resources, and better serve agricultural science and technology basic research and breeding innovation.
