By 2035, the proportion of electricity consumption in our country will exceed 40%.
Yesterday, six think tank reports, including the "Blue Book on the Development of New Energy System", "Blue Book on Energy Technology Innovation", and "China Energy Development Report 2025", were released in Beijing. The reports show that the proportion of electricity in China's final energy consumption has reached 30%, significantly higher than the world average. It is expected that by 2035, this proportion will increase to over 40%. The "Blue Book on the Development of New Energy System" points out that China is promoting the formation of a green and flexible energy consumption system to accelerate the construction of a new energy system. It is predicted that the total national energy consumption in 2035 will exceed 7.2 billion tons of standard coal, entering a slow-growing "saturation stage" afterwards. The proportion of electricity in final energy consumption will reach over 40%, and hydrogen will be utilized on a large scale. The report predicts that non-fossil energy will become the main energy source in China before 2045, with the proportion of non-fossil energy consumption reaching over 80% by 2060. By 2060, in the industrial sector, the proportion of electricity in end-use energy structure will be 60%, in the transportation sector, electricity and hydrogen will reach around 50% and 20% respectively, and in the construction sector, electricity will reach about 80% in end-use energy.
