The rotating Chair of the G20, South Africa, announced on the 28th the establishment of a "Special Independent Expert Committee" aimed at addressing global inequality issues. The committee will submit the first report on global inequality issues since its establishment to the leaders of the G20. The South African Presidency said in a statement that the committee will analyze the current status of global wealth and income inequality and its impact on economic growth and multilateral cooperation. It is committed to formulating practical solutions to address the increasingly severe challenges. The committee is chaired by Nobel laureate in economics Joseph Stiglitz, and its members include five experts from Brazil, India, South Africa, and Uganda.
