The United Nations Secretary-General calls for all parties involved in armed conflict in Sudan to immediately cease fire in Fashir.
On August 29 local time, UN Secretary-General Guterres issued a statement through his spokesperson on the situation in Sudan, calling for an immediate ceasefire in and around the capital of North Darfur state, El Fasher. The statement expressed Guterres' deep shock at the continued attacks by the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces on El Fasher, resulting in civilian casualties, describing their actions as a serious violation of international humanitarian law. Guterres urged all parties in the Sudanese conflict to immediately cease fire and take measures to protect civilians, ensure their freedom of safe passage, and allow unhindered, continuous access for humanitarian assistance to El Fasher.
