Bill Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, has proposed new criminal referral suggestions against Federal Reserve Board member Lisa Cook, further pressuring the Trump administration on allegations of mortgage fraud against Cook. In a letter to US Attorney General Pam Bondi, this new referral suggestion involves a third property in Massachusetts. Earlier this month, Cook was accused of fraudulently listing properties in Michigan and Georgia as her "primary residence" when obtaining a mortgage in 2021, a tactic usually used to secure more favorable loan terms. The latest referral suggestion claims that Cook obtained a mortgage for an apartment in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and claimed it as a second home. Pulte stated that eight months later, Cook claimed to have received rental income of $15,000-50,000 and referred to it as an investment property. Cook's lawyers did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The Federal Reserve declined to comment.
