The American fusion energy startup Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) announced on Thursday that the company has recently secured $863 million in financing, with investment from artificial intelligence giant NVIDIA. This financing will be used to advance the construction of CFS's fusion energy demonstration system and accelerate the development of the first commercial fusion power plant. According to a statement released by CFS, NVIDIA's venture capital division, NVentures, participated in this round of financing, and other investors include existing shareholders Khosla Ventures and Alphabet, Google's parent company, as well as several sovereign wealth funds and investment banks. Since its establishment, CFS has raised approximately $3 billion, accounting for one-third of the total global funding in the fusion energy industry.
