The official website of the European Commission shows that Boeing is seeking approval from the EU to repurchase the world's largest independent aircraft structure manufacturer, Spirit AeroSystems. It is understood that in July last year, Boeing announced that it had agreed to repurchase this former subsidiary for $4.7 billion in stock, while Airbus will take over the supplier's loss-making European business. The EU executive body is expected to make a decision on this transaction by September 30. The UK competition watchdog concluded after evaluation this month that there was no need for a further investigation into whether the transaction constitutes anti-competitive behavior and has issued approval for the acquisition.
