Cook responds to Trump's dismissal reasons, implying that the mortgage dispute originated from a "document error."
Lisa Cook, a member of the Federal Reserve Board, hinted that the mortgage dispute on which President Trump requested her dismissal may have stemmed from an inadvertent "document error." Cook's lawyers wrote in legal documents applying for a temporary restraining order that the potential situation where Cook "mistakenly identified the property use in a mortgage application, but with no intent or substantive impact" before becoming a board member does not constitute a "reason" for her dismissal. The legal team led by Abbe Lowell also pointed out that Trump and Pulte "did not even specifically allege that Cook benefited from any document error, or that the error was intentional."
