Suspected of leaking TSMC trade secrets to Japan, 3 Taiwanese engineers may face "harsh punishment"
According to the report of the American World News Network on August 27, the Taiwan "High Prosecutors Office" investigated the theft of key technology related to Taiwan Semiconductor's 2-nanometer core, and found that former Taiwan Semiconductor engineer Chen Liming jumped to the Japanese company Tokyo Electronics in order to obtain mass production test data for the "etching machine platform," and thus stole parameter formulas through the then Taiwan Semiconductor engineers Wu Bingjun and Ge Yiping. On the 27th, the prosecutors charged the above three individuals with violating the "Security Act," trade secrets, and other crimes. According to reports, due to the involvement of Chen Liming, Wu Bingjun, and Ge Yiping in the "use of trade secrets of core technologies outside the domain," the prosecutors are seeking sentences of 7 to 14 years for each of them. All three individuals are currently in custody and have confessed. The case will be transferred to the Taiwan Intellectual Property and Commercial Court next week. The investigation determined that Chen Liming had taken photos and copied 14 images of Taiwan Semiconductor's core technology test data and process flowchart files. The prosecution determined that Chen Liming should serve a 14-year prison sentence, Wu Bingjun should serve a 9-year prison sentence, and Ge Yiping should serve a 7-year prison sentence.
