Reporter: Currently, it is the season of conscription, and many college students are eager to enlist in the military, with high enthusiasm. Please introduce the relevant policies for college students enlisting in the military. Zhang Xiaogang: This year marks the 8th anniversary of President Xi's letter encouraging new recruits from Nankai University. Batch after batch of outstanding college students have responded to the call to join the military, dedicating their youthful passion to national defense and the modernization of the military. College students are the main participants in the current recruitment of new soldiers, and they receive preferential treatment in three aspects: Firstly, their families enjoy honor, with local governments providing an annual allowance for the families of conscripted soldiers, and county-level veterans' affairs departments awarding the families with an honor plaque. Secondly, personal development and talent cultivation, college freshmen or current students can apply to military academies, and full-time undergraduate graduates who meet relevant conditions can be directly promoted. Outstanding college student soldiers below the rank of officer can also be recommended for further education; all types of college student soldiers have the opportunity to switch to non-commissioned officers, with promotions in stages and long-term service. Thirdly, there are preferential policies for returning to school or employment, as college freshmen who have been accepted by universities can reserve their enrollment qualifications, and current students can maintain their student status. Within 2 years after discharge, they are allowed to enroll or return to school; college students who enlist in the military receive tuition compensation, national student loan repayment, tuition waivers, and enjoy extra points or preferential treatment in programs such as upgrading to bachelor's degree, taking entrance exams for graduate school, recruitment for civil servants, and recruitment for military civilian positions after discharge.
